Katie’s Sugar Cookies on Dillywheats!

This summer, my wonderful friends Lillian and Jaimie came over and we baked some sugar cookies. While the cookies themselves are long gone (please see drawing below) and Lillian has since moved back home to SLC, I documented our experience and Lillian has just posted it on her lovely baking blog, Dillywheats! Just in time for Christmas! You can read the sugar cookie recipe (which is really great — I can’t stress this enough!), its story, and see some pretty pictures of the baking process over here.

Cookie Time

Someone has to pay for this crime!

I’m visiting my parents this weekend, which means lots of Law and Order marathon watching with my dad. Since I haven’t finished the tête-à-tête I’ve been working on, here’s a copy of the birthday card I made for ol’ Chuck back in May (it’s still hanging on my parents’ refrigerator):

Doesn’t Sam Waterston/Jack McCoy have the most bizarre eyes? They look like little buttons to me. Thank GOD for his marvelous eyebrows and salt and pepper locks — they really pick up the slack. And then when he wears his slouchy knit cap and hunter green jacket in the winter episodes? Forget it! Adorable! Almost makes up for his semi-sleazy attitude toward his second chairs and his insatiable appetite for requesting the death penalty.

God, I could talk about Law and Order for days. And sometimes I do.

P.S. Look for a new tête-à-tête in the next week or two!

Waiting for October

Finally! An new comic! And a spooky one at that! My apologies for taking for-ev-er to update but I’ve been a lil busy bee! This here comic you see before you was a little bit rushed so that I could publish it before Halloween. There were a couple scanning/painting detail/layout issues that I would have liked to fix if I had time, and I did have to edit some things out because of said problems, but I don’t think it suffers to much. Anyway, here t’is! And in time for Halloween at that!

Very Short Stories: The Co-op

Tofu! Tofu! Tofu! is real and I can only imagine it is also terrible. I love tofu and exclaiming as much as the next person, but there should be limits.

Also, do you think the youth of our nation’s middle class are fueled by Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies? Because yes, yes they are.

Childhood Memories: Oui, We Wee

Homophones!

Practical advice!

This comic has it all.

tête-à-tête: Blue Monday

Issue 6: Blue Monday

This issue centers on a familiar theme for me: hoping to impress strangers. It also features my awesome friend Carolyn! She’s currently an anthropology PhD student studying Mormons in the South Pacific (you can read about her adventures in Tonga on her tumblr). She’s the coolest and probably my favorite person to share shameful stories with. Also featured in this comic is my blanket, Yellow Blanket, who I still sleep with it every night which is totally normal.

(Please click on the comic to view a larger image that you can scroll through.)

Hairy

(Perhaps I should add that my hair did stop falling out last summer! Suck it, Ben Franklin!)
